Easy Wood Slice Christmas Ornament Craft for Kids

Want to make the popular wood slice Christmas ornaments without hand painting or a vinyl cutting machine?! Print these beautiful Christmas hymn designs and decoupage onto wood ornaments or wood slice ornaments. Easy peasy! Add a bow and maybe a couple of wooden beads. The circles are 3.5 inches.

PRINTING SUGGESTIONS

Ink from a home inkjet printer may smear when spreading decoupage glue over it. You may consider printing at an office store with a laser printer to prevent smearing. I also suggest printing on card stock (thicker paper). Our wood slice ornaments were not all the same size or perfect shape, but we were able to trim around the edges of the paper circles when we needed to.

INSTRUCTIONS

Print the hymns designs and cut them out. Use a paint brush to put decoupage glue under the paper and on top of the paper. Be sure to get around the edges well. Make sure that the top of the design lines up with the top of the ornament where the hole is so the ornaments will hang straight.

Once they are dry use a tooth pick to punch through the paper where the hole is. Thread your twine or ribbon through the hole. We used a plastic sowing needle from another craft kit to help get the twine through the hole. You could also use your tooth pick or other small instrument to push the twine through. Add beads if desired. Tie on a bow or just tie a knot for hanging.

ORNAMENT SUGGESTIONS

Use with wooden ornaments like these or wood slice ornaments like these on Amazon. You will also need decoupage glue like Mod Podge. You can also add wood beads in Christmas colors. I suggest 16mm or 20mm size. (We used 20mm). Use twine or ribbon to hang and/or add a bow.
